The Pixel Ad phenomenon
The pixel ad... a marketing innovation, or just a one time fluke?
Well, for one lucky man, the pixel ad has really paid off. I'm talking about Alex Tew, the guy who started the craze, and made a fortune out of it.
Basically, the site sells pixels (minimum 10x10) at $1 per pixel. And the goal was to sell all 1 million pixels, thus achieving the $1 million target. The site took off, and made this young entrepreneur the talk of the town. In fact, the huge demand for ad space on his site, prompted him to sell off the last 1000 pixels on eBay! Winning bid isover $160k! $38,100. Fake bidders had it up much higher before it was adjusted.
You can probably find out more from his site.
The phenomenon has since spread. Many sites have duplicated the pixel ad format
